Douglas Ruth elected President of the Canadian Academy of Engineering for 2016/2018

Professor Douglas Ruth was elected President of the Canadian Academy of Engineering (CAE) at CAE’s Annual General Meeting on June 27. He was elected as a Fellow of the Academy in 2008 and has served on the Board of Directors since 2013.

Ruth is a professor in the department of mechanical engineering and Dean Emeritus, Associate Dean, and NSERC Chair in Design Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering.

The Canadian Academy of Engineering comprises many of the country’s most accomplished engineers, who have expressed their dedication to the application of science and engineering principles in the interests of the country and its enterprises.

Fellows of the Academy are nominated and elected by their peers, in view of their distinguished achievements and career-long service to the engineering profession.
