Warm up with performances from the Desautels Faculty of Music

The University Symphony Orchestra presents The Early Romantics conducted by Julian Pellicano and Mariana Menezes, featuring Weber’s Overture to Der Freischutz and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 and Piano Concerto No. 4 featuring Paul Williamson (piano), a second year B.Mus. student and the 2014-15 Concerto Competition Co-Winner.

When: February 3, 7:30pm
Where: Jubilee Place at MBCI, 173 Talbot Avenue
Tickets: $15.00 for Adults, $5.00 for Students – available in advance from the Music Office (T319, Tache Arts Complex – 136 Dafoe Road entrance) or cash at the door

Metamorphosis!
a concert by the UM Wind Ensemble and the UM Concert Band
Selected repertoire includes Adam Gorb’s Yiddish Dances, Paul Hindemith’s Symphonic Metamorphosis and George Gershwin’s An American in Paris

The Musical Theatre Ensemble under the direction of Donna Fletcher, presents Street Scenes, an annual performance of excerpts from popular musicals, including: And the World Goes Round, Anne of Green Gables, City Workers in Love, Forty Second Street, Title of Show, Sweet Charity, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, Guys and Dolls, and more.

Selected jazz ensemble performance groups play at Mardi Jazz, a weekly jazz performance at the Centre Cultural Franco-Manitobain

XIE, the eXperimental Improv Ensemble, directed by Dr. Gordon Fitzell, presents a multimedia performance at Cinematheque.

Several small jazz ensembles perform weekly at The Hang, on Wednesday nights.
