Celebrating 75 Years of Excellence: The Faculty of Graduate Studies marks milestone anniversary

In celebration of academic achievement and intellectual growth, the Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) at the University of Manitoba is proudly commemorating its 75th anniversary. UM is an institution that has shaped many scholars, researchers and leaders. This milestone is a testament to the faculty’s enduring commitment to higher education and the pursuit of knowledge.

Established in the 1948-1949 academic year, the Faculty of Gradate Studies at the University of Manitoba has consistently upheld its mission to foster groundbreaking research and provide an environment conducive to advanced learning. Over the past 75 years, the faculty has been at the forefront of supporting graduate students who are conducting innovative research, engaging in critical thinking and shaping the knowledge in their fields.

Dr. Kelley Main,Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, is excited to be hosting this event. “As we celebrate the remarkable journey of the Faculty of Graduate Studies on its 75th anniversary, we reflect not only on academic excellence but also on the limitless potential of what lies ahead”.

Join FGS in celebrating this milestone anniversary on Thursday, November 30th in the Multi purpose room, 2nd floor UMSU University Centre, 65 Chancellor Circle. A graduate student poster display will kick off the celebrations by opening at 4:00pm to showcase UM graduate students and the diversity of disciplines represented A short formal program will follow at 5:00pm.

We look forward to celebrating FGS alumni, students, faculty, support staff and the general public who have all contributed to 75 years of success of the faculty. All are welcome! If you are unable to attend, but would like to attend virtually, the event will be streamed live on YouTube.
