A Meeting with ICC Judge Kimberly Prost

November 3, 2025 — 
Jayden Kyryluk [BA/22] is a third-year law student working as a Research Assistant for the Desautels Business Law Accelerator at the University of Manitoba's Faculty of Law. He is currently spending this term on an exchange program, studying international law at Radbound University in Nijmegen, Netherlands. On the same day that his classmates in Winnipeg were meeting with Supreme Court of Canada Judge Sheilah Martin, Kyryluck was shaking hands with Judge Kimberly Prost in The Hague.

Walking in Two Worlds: a celebration of Indigenous identity at UM

Walking in Two Worlds (Nov. 17–21, 2025) is a week-long celebration created by Kookum Karen Courchene to honour Indigenous identity and pride. Each day features a theme—from moccasins and ribbon skirts to beadwork and fashion—ending with the 4th Annual Indigenous Winter Market. The event invites everyone to celebrate Indigenous culture, visibility, and belonging.

Tutor Training is designed to improve the overall quality of tutoring on campus. Participants benefit by learning about the role of a tutoring life cycle by improving critcal thinking and communication skills. Tutors who attend the training and complete the assigned activities also earn recognition on their Experience Record.

CJHR Attends Ruby Sachs Symposium on Global 2SLGBTQI+ Legal Advocacy

October 30, 2025 — 
The Canadian Journal of Human Rights (CJHR) was honoured to sponsor and participate in the Ruby Sachs Symposium on Global 2SLGBTQI+ Legal Advocacy, held October 5–7, 2025, at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. Co-sponsors included the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Law, the Manitoba Law Foundation, and the LGBT Purge Fund. The Symposium was led and organized by Dr. Shayna Plaut, the Museum’s Director of Research and Exhibition Development. Former Ontario premier Bob Rae delivered the keynote address.
