November 21, 2014 —

The big news on campus continues to be the surprising football team. Last weekend’s Hardy Cup win over the Calgary Dinos propelled the team to their first CIS final-four appearance since 2007.

Manitoba is now the Canada West representative in the CIS Semi-Final and will travel to play the Montreal Carabins in the Uteck Bowl on Saturday, November 22 at 12:30 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast live at cis-sic.tv, Sportsnet 360 and Radio Canada.

The Bison volleyball teams take to the home court this weekend as they host the Thompson Rivers WolfPack on November 21 and 22. Both squads are sitting in the middle of the pack in the Canada West standings and will look to gain some ground in the second half of the season.

The women’s hockey team is also at home on Friday and Saturday, hosting the UBC Thunderbirds at Wayne Fleming Arena. After dropping both of their games against the Calgary Dinos last weekend, the Bisons sit in third place in the Canada West standings.

On Saturday, November 22 the Bisons Swim Team will head to Lethbridge, Alberta for the Canada West Swim Championship. The men’s side is currently ranked number nine in Canada and is led by two veterans and strong contenders for medals, Dillon Perron (breaststroke, butterfly) and Artur Kroitor (freestyle, butterfly). The Women are led by fourth year Kimberly Moors who continues to have a strong season, already qualifying for the CIS Championship in 50m butterfly and freestyle.

On the road:

  • The men’s basketball team is tied for second place and has won three straight games. They will face Calgary on November 21 & 22.
  • The women’s basketball team is still searching for their first win of the season. They will also face Calgary on November 21 & 22.
  • The men’s hockey team travels to Vancouver to face the UBC Thunderbirds
