Big basketball weekend

Bison men and women's basketball teams hit the hardwood at home

The Bison men’s basketball team hits the court at home again this weekend.

The squad is taking on the Alberta Golden Bears at Investor’s Group Athletic Centre on Friday at 8:00 pm and on Saturday at 6:30 pm.

The Bison men are leading Canada West in assists with 19.8 per game. Co-captain A.J. Basi leads the team in scoring with 22.5 points per game, which ranks him fifth in conference.

The Bison women’s basketball team takes on the Alberta Pandas on Friday at 6:00 pm and on Saturday at 4:00 pm.

The women are looking for their first win of the season. Bison rookie Nicole Konieczny leads the team in scoring with 9.5 points per game plus minutes played at 27.3 per game.

This will be the final home game of the first half of the regular season. The Bisons head to Brandon on November 27-28 for their final matches before the holiday break.

These weekend games are sure to be extra exciting; the NBA All-Star Tour visits campus this Saturday. Basketball legend Muggsy Bogues will be on hand, with basketball games and challenges happening throughout the day.

MEN’S HOCKEY:

The Bison men’s hockey team will hit the ice looking for a pair of wins against the Saskatchewan Huskies this weekend.

The herd is 5-and-7 on the season.

Puck drop at Wayne Fleming Arena is at 7:00 pm on Friday and at 4:00 pm on Saturday.

SWIMMING:

Bison swimmers complete all day Saturday at Pan-Am Pool for their annual Bison Spring IM Invitational.

HERD ON THE ROAD:

The 7-and-5 Bison women’s hockey team is in Saskatchewan to take on the Huskies this weekend.

The Bison men’s volleyball team faces Alberta on Friday and Saturday. The men look to add a couple more W’s to their 8-and-0 season.

The Bison women’s volleyball team is also in Alberta on Friday and Saturday. They’re hoping to improve on their 1-and-7 record.
