Advisory: What is the cost of smoking?

Smoking-related illnesses cost Manitoba taxpayers an extra $244 million a year, according to a new in-depth study from the Manitoba Centre for Health Policy at the University of Manitoba. The study examined smoking rates, how Manitoba’s health care system is being strained and the quality of life expectations for smokers and non-smokers.
