The Passover Rap, an original track from food chemistry professor
April 15, 2014 —
Today marks the beginning of Passover, or Pesach, a Jewish religious holiday rich in symbolism. It commemorates the liberation by God of Jewish people from slavery in ancient Egypt over 3,300 years ago.
In 2006, University of Manitoba food chemist Michael Eskin recorded a video of him rapping about Passover. This song is from his album, Michael Eskin Performs Mostly Genesis with a Little Bit of Exodus. Eskin is an associate dean and professor in the department of human nutritional sciences in the Faculty of Human Ecology.
