New director for Transport Institute
Adolf K.Y. Ng, professor of transport and supply chain management at the Asper School of Business, has been appointed director of the University of Manitoba Transport Institute (UMTI) starting April 1, 2016.
“It is a great honor to be given the opportunity to lead a research institute that has such a rich history and connection with Manitoba and Canada,” says Ng. “My goal is to transform the Transport Institute into a global center of excellence in transport research in the near future.”
Ng is an expert in transport geography, climate change, transport infrastructure planning and management, port-focal logistics, and global supply chains. He has more than 100 publications in leading scholarly journals, and has received numerous accolades in Canada and around the world.
He joined Asper as associate professor in 2013, after earning his PhD from Oxford University and having worked at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (China) and Erasmus University Rotterdam (Netherlands). He obtained full professorship in 2015, and was appointed associate director of the Transport Institute in the same year.
Located in the Asper School of Business, the Transport Institute was established in 1984 to facilitate awareness, expertise and education related to the intersection of transportation, economic prosperity, sustainability, and social benefits by linking business, government, not–for–profit organizations, academics, students, and the wider community.
