Exploring National Day for Truth and Reconciliation events

UM community encouraged to listen, learn and reflect

September 22, 2021 —

The University of Manitoba recently announced it will recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation as a paid closure for UM faculty, staff and students.

There are a number of opportunities to listen, learn and reflect leading up to and on this integral day, both at the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation (NCTR) and UM:

The NCTR also encourages everyone across the country to mark Sept. 30 by wearing orange shirts and ‘lighting up’ the country orange. UM will light select buildings across its campuses in recognition of the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation.

For a list of community-hosted events, please email indigenous.engagement@umanitoba.ca with the subject line ‘Orange Shirt Day information’.
