Discover your future in Arts – March 16-April 7
Are you a current Arts student or thinking about becoming one? Are you still deciding what to choose as your major? Or, are you already wondering what to do after graduation?
If any of this sounds like you, you’ll want to attend the Discover Your Future in Arts series to see how earning a Bachelor of Arts degree can lead to an exciting career.
With 3 undergraduate degree options, a co-op program and over 40 majors and minors to choose from in the Faculty of Arts, it can be difficult deciding what to study. When you add questions about what job to pursue after graduation and how to connect your current studies to that future job, it can feel overwhelming.
From March 16 to April 7, the Faculty of Arts and Career Services are offering a series of presentations and workshops to help students as they make key decisions about their studies and their future. Students can attend one or more of the sessions to discover the many academic and occupational options available.
Highlights of the series include:
- a session with Arts alumni sharing their experience and career path,
- a panel of employers who will talk about why they hire Arts graduates,
- a list of the many ways an Arts student can gain valuable experience during their degree to build their resume, and
- step-by-step instructions on how to declare a major and stay on track with the chosen program throughout the degree.
As part of the series, Career Services will host six hands-on workshops where a Career Consultant will guide students through the career planning process, take them through exercises to explore their options and help them plan what comes next. There is a workshop for everyone no matter what area of study a student is pursuing including:
- Psychology
- Sociology and Criminology
- Economics
- English, Theatre, Film & Media
- History
- One workshop for Arts students from any major
The series kicks-off on Tuesday, March 16 with a lead presentation where students will learn about the many areas of study offered in Arts and the resources available to help students plan their studies to align with future job interests. Students will also hear from Arts alumni who will share their academic and career paths as examples and provide recommendations along the theme of “if I could go back in time, what advice would I give myself”.
