Consultations sessions announced for the President’s Task Force on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
All students, staff and faculty are invited to participate in consultations for the President’s Task Force on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI). The question guiding this work is: What is needed to ensure that EDI principles are embraced and supported within the UM community?
Open focus group sessions will be held during February, March and April at the Fort Garry, Bannatyne and Selkirk Avenue campuses.
- A list of dates, times and locations for input sessions can be found on the EDI task force website.
- If you are a member of a community on campus that would like to host a focus group, please contact EDI@umanitoba.ca.
- If you require accommodation to support your participation, please email EDI@umanitoba.ca.
- If you are unable to attend a focus group but would like to provide your input, you can respond to the EDI focus group questions online. All online responses are anonymous, unless you choose to provide your name and contact information.
[**Due to Covid-19, all focus group sessions have been paused until further notice. Please add your voice via one of the online feedback mechanisms: complete the online EDI survey or provide your feedback to the focus group questions.]
“Consulting with members of the University community is a cornerstone of the task force’s mandate,” says Diane Hiebert-Murphy, Vice-Provost (Academic Affairs), and chair of the Task Force.
“These consultations will help to identify obstacles and inequities facing faculty, staff and students at the University of Manitoba and will inform the recommendations of the Task Force.”
Janice Ristock, Provost and Vice President (Academic), adds: “Advancing EDI at the University of Manitoba is critical to moving our community forward, and students, staff and faculty are strongly encouraged to take part in these important conversations.”
“The important work of the Task Force will help ensure that UM is a place where equity, diversity, and inclusion are an integral part of all that we do,” says President David Barnard.
