The following is a message sent to staff by Brendan Hughes, Executive Director (Student Engagement)
Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce that Christine Cyr has accepted the role of Director, Aboriginal Student Centre effective June 2, 2014.
Christine holds her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Manitoba and has worked in Enrolment Services for over 14 years, most recently as the Lead Aboriginal Student Recruitment Officer. As part of this role, she has connected with and engaged many potential university students, and has led a Post-Secondary Club for Indigenous youth. Christine has worked closely with the Aboriginal Student Centre in the facilitation of the Indigenous Circle of Empowerment program, and she has also worked with many Indigenous students in leadership programs offered by Student Life and the International Centre for Students. Christine has also made significant contributions to the University of Manitoba’s Strategic Enrolment Management planning process.
Christine, who is Cree and Metis, is very involved in her community, including volunteering as Chair of the United Way of Winnipeg Aboriginal Relations Council and as a member of the United Way of Winnipeg Board of Trustees since 2009. She has also served on numerous committees at the University of Manitoba.
Please join me in welcoming Christine in her new role.
Best,
Brendan
