UM will lower flag to mark National Day of Remembrance of the Quebec City Mosque Attack and Action Against Islamophobia

January 28, 2024 —

Monday, January 29th is the National Day of Remembrance of the Quebec City Mosque Attack and Action Against Islamophobia. UM will lower the flag to acknowledge the six innocent lives taken that day, and the trauma caused by that hateful act seven years ago. This day also reminds us of the harms caused by Islamophobia here and around the world. On this day and every day, we speak out against racism in all forms and remind our community to embrace our common humanity.

Please know that UM is committed to supporting a safe campus environment for all students, faculty and staff and takes great care to maintain a respectful work and learning environment.

We encourage anyone who needs to talk or seek support to reach out to our counseling services, which are available to all students and employees.
