U of M SAE wins 2012 Honeywell Outstanding Collegiate Branch Award

April 23, 2013 —

Congratulations to the U of M’s Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) on being selected as the Class 1 recipient of the 2012 SAE Honeywell Outstanding Collegiate Branch Award.

This award, established in 1963 by the Bendix Corp., recognizes SAE Collegiate Branches for exemplary performance in the areas of technical meetings, networking opportunities, promoting SAE memberships, activities including the Collegiate Design Series and community service programs.

The University of Manitoba Student Chapter of SAE International (UMSAE) is a non-profit student organization made up of four design teams, each of which designs a unique vehicle. The Aero Design, Baja, Formula Electric and Formula teams provide post-secondary students with unique and exciting hands-on experiences, that enables them to hone their design, manufacturing and team-building skills, plus many more! These teams design, build, test and compete internationally every year. The Aero team has already gone to competition this year and they returned with the NASA Design Award for the third year in a row!
