U of M extends sympathy to Boushie family

February 10, 2018 —

The following is a message from University of Manitoba President and Vice-Chancellor David Barnard:

On behalf of the University of Manitoba community, I wish to extend our deepest sympathies to the family of Colten Boushie, to his fellow Red Pheasant First Nation community members, and to the broader Indigenous community. We support you now in this time of grief and pain.

As partners in the pursuit of meaningful reconciliation, we recognize that the path forward requires action, change and true commitment. When our systems and institutions fall short, it is reasonable that we demand more from them.

At the University of Manitoba we stand with the Indigenous community. Our hopes and prayers are for healing.
