Trending: For the week of September 5 – 11

September 5, 2016 —

Welcome to ‘Trending’, where each week we share a few things to watch for on social media.

Summer is waving that last good-bye and this week marks the big return for fall! New students will be all over campus trying to find their way around (be nice and lend a hand!) and classes start on Thursday. Welcome back everyone!

Here’s what we’re talking about on social media this week:

  • Our favourite #umanitoba Instagram photo of the week is a real treasure, unearthed by Richard. He was a first-year student in 1988 when the Tragically Hip played one of their tiniest venues. Thanks for sharing Richard and keep tagging your pics #umanitoba for a chance to be featured.
  • Orientation continues this week at our Fort Garry campus for new students and grad students! Be sure to share your #umorientation photos on Twitter and Instagram!
  • Bison football season has started, Bison women’s soccer has kicked off and there’s more to come! Follow all the action at #GoBisons!
  • Academic Integrity is really important. Learn more at #umintegrity.
  • Manitoba’s Idea Competition is back! Undergrad, grad and post-doc students in Manitoba have a chance to win $10,000 for their great ideas. Check out #gamechangermb.
  • Still need to pick up your UPass? Have questions? Visit @myumsu for details.
  • Calling all alumni! #umhomecoming is just around the corner…check out our Facebook Events for the Homecoming Football Game and the inaugural Queers, Cheers and Homecoming Years Soirée.
  • Mark your calendar! #UMFreeWeek at Rec Services is September 12th-16th. Get fit for FREE!

As always, join us and the rest of our community talking about the U of M by following #umanitoba on Twitter and Instagram.
