Transforming experiences
“This trip added so much value to my life.”
Hallway chatter changed Andrew Chudley’s life: he kept overhearing people talking about “the Israel trip”. He didn’t know what it was, only that it was good, and he needed to do it.
In May 2016, the fifth-year Asper School of Business student took part in the Arni C. Thorsteinson Study Exchange Program to Israel, which annually connects 14 Asper students with eight students from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, thanks to an ongoing gift from business leaders Gerald Schwartz [BComm/62, LLB/66, LLD/16] and Heather Reisman [LLD/16].
These kind of experiential learning opportunities help students discover new paths and position them for academic and career success. For Chudley, “the Israel trip” allowed him to experience deep learning—he didn’t just read about how Israel produces a lot of entrepreneurs, he saw it, he gets it now.
“It definitely changed the way I look at business, and the world in general,” says Chudley.
