UPDATED May 2020

EDI community experiences survey

The survey to better understand UM community experiences of diversity, inclusion and equity (EDI) has been extended until the end of May, 2020.

If you are a student, or faculty or staff member, please complete this EDI community experiences survey, if you have not already done so, and lend your voice to this important work.

The survey is open until June 1, 2020. All respondents are eligible to enter a draw to win one of ten $100 Amazon.ca gift cards.

The survey will inform the task force’s recommendations.

Visit the President’s Task Force on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) website for more information.

The following is a message from University of Manitoba President and Vice-Chancellor David Barnard, sent via email to all faculty, staff and students on Mar. 11:

Dear UM Community member,

A survey has been created to better understand UM community experiences of diversity, inclusion and equity. If you are a student, or faculty or staff member, I urge you to complete this survey and to lend your voice to this important work.

We want to ensure that all members of our UM community feel included and safe, and are able to be authentic and to contribute in meaningful ways to our learning and work environment.

The survey is part of the mandate of the President’s Task Force on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), which was established in October 2019. The survey will inform the task force’s recommendations on the process and actions required to identify and address obstacles and inequities facing faculty, staff and students at the UM.

Please note that these survey questions are different than the focus group questions, and I hope you will consider participating in both initiatives. As you may be aware, focus groups on EDI are also continuing in March and April. A list of dates, times, and locations can be found on the EDI website. Thanks to everyone who has participated so far.**

[**Due to Covid-19, all focus group sessions have been paused until further notice. Please add your voice via one of the online feedback mechanisms: complete the online EDI survey or provide your online feedback to the focus group questions.]

The EDI survey opens today, March 11, and continues until April 30.

Now is the time to add your voice to our community conversation about inclusion, diversity and equity at our university. Let’s work together to make the University of Manitoba a place where all students, staff and faculty feel recognized, valued, respected and treated fairly.

Sincerely,

David
