Science Rendezvous 2024 cancelled
Editor’s Note:
UM is aware of plans for a protest at the Fort Garry campus on May 11. As this may impact access to campus and available parking, organizers have made the difficult decision to cancel Science Rendezvous. We extend gratitude to all planners and volunteers and to all the community members who have made this event a success year after year. Planning for the 2025 Science Rendezvous event will begin in the coming months as we remain dedicated to delivering an exceptional community experience.
Saturday, May 11 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. right here on Fort Garry Campus. We will be there, the Faculty of Science, our campus and organization partners, and 700 volunteers! And we will bring you the biggest, most fun and most remarkable science outreach event of the year!
There is an Oobleck run, the one you have to run over or sink – up to your ankles. There are plants, soil and dirt to learn about. There are dinosaurs and bones to touch and ask questions about. Solve math problems with your hands without hurting your brain. Stretch your arms as wide as you can and expect to know what bird you could be. Look out to the universe and learn about the planets and stars or take a real close look of molecules dancing under the microscope.
The truth is, we put together the event thinking about young curious minds. But who are we kidding? The young-at-hearts usually have the most fun at Science Rendezvous. So whether or not you are accompanying little ones to the event, we have something for you. We cannot wait to see you there!
