Dr. Meghan Azad of the department of pediatrics and child health in the Max Rady College of Medicine is the 2022 recipient of the prestigious Steacie Prize – one of Canada’s most coveted awards for researchers 40 years or younger.

A University of Manitoba researcher is bringing an international clinical trial to Canada to test new and promising treatments for people with low-survival brain cancers.

March 22, 2023 — 
On Thursday March 16, more than 90 UM undergraduate students presented their research findings at the 2023 Undergraduate Research Poster Competition. This was the first in-person Poster Competition since the pandemic and was a welcome networking opportunity for UM students and faculty from across disciplines.

Sixteen professors in the UM Rady Faculty of Health Sciences have been awarded a total of nearly $9 million in project grants from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.

After being selected from three rigorous heats over the past month, twelve finalists are now ready compete in the 3MT Finals on March 30.

Access to clean and safe drinking water is an internationally recognized human right, essential to the full enjoyment of life. Yet, it is under immediate threat. Indigenous communities around the world have historically been excluded from many important decisions on water policy. There is now a growing global acknowledgement that Indigenous Peoples should play a significant role in decision-making about water-related policies.

March 15, 2023 — 
During the COVID-19 pandemic, an international team of researchers led by experts at the University of Manitoba examined conditions that contributed to a rise of racism across North America. With funding from two Federal Government Grants , the researchers engaged a panel of 7,500 residents in Canada, USA, and Mexico as part of a long-term survey, from March 2020 through October 2022.

A new web-based therapy program developed by a UM team helps patients shift their focus from being locked in an endless battle against pain to accepting it as a “passenger” on their life journey.

A Rady Faculty of Health Sciences researcher might have found a way to predict how a person with early rheumatoid arthritis will respond to treatments based on a sample of their joint lining tissue and the discovery has made Arthritis Society Canada’s Top 10 Research Advances of 2022.
