RAS project top 5 ‘fun facts’

Research administration system project moving forward

April 21, 2021 —

At the heart of a thriving research enterprise, like the one at UM, lie a myriad of administrative policies, protocols and compliance requirements that govern the day-to-day operations. Enter the Research Administration System (RAS) project – which will change how graduate students, faculty, and research staff will go about their work.

Top 5 RAS fun facts:

  1. RAS is a single sign-on system that will take the guess work out of which forms are required, by integrating more than 100 research administration forms (such as, the infamous FAAF, ethics, contracts, internal grants) for seamless review and approvals
  2. RAS dashboard provides user profiles and a quick view of all your records and pending tasks
  3. Phase 1 involves Human Ethics Fort Garry and will ‘go live’ by late June 2021
  4. Student researchers, faculty and research staff will have RAS access via their UM email addresses
  5. Training will begin in May/June – watch for updates in your faculty/college/school
