Departmental leadership announcements

July 13, 2022 —

The Price Faculty of Engineering is pleased to welcome new heads and associate heads to the departments of Civil and Mechanical Engineering.

Effective July 1, 2022, Dr. Olanrewaju (Lanre) Ojo is appointed head of Mechanical Engineering and Dr. Shawn Clark as head of Civil Engineering, both for a five-year term. Additionally, we are pleased to welcome Dr. Mohamed Bassuoni to the role of Associate Head (Graduate) and Dr. Jonathan Regehr to Associate Head (Undergraduate) in Civil Engineering, as well as Dr. Sean O’Brien to the role of Associate Head (Undergraduate) and Dr. Yunhua Luo to the role of Associate Head (Graduate) in Mechanical Engineering.

“I’m very happy to be taking on this role as an opportunity to serve our Department and the local Civil Engineering community. With our continued return to in-person teaching in the fall term the next few years promise to be an exciting time for the Department of Civil Engineering.” – Dr. Shawn Clark

“I look forward to working with everyone to maintain the established culture of success and excellence in teaching and learning, research and community service, but also to explore new ways to move the Mechanical Engineering Department forward to achieve greater things. As we look forward to full in-person activities in the fall, I hope that we would not only put the ordeals of the pandemic behind us, but also find ways to exploit the adversity by identifying and creatively adopting some positive lessons from the pandemic to enhance our programs. Collectively as a team, yes we can!” – Dr. Olanrewaju (Lanre) Ojo

With this change, we wish to thank Dr. David Kuhn and Dr. Dagmar Svecova for their service to Civil and Mechanical Engineering, through their term as head over their respective departments. Our faculty has benefited greatly from their contributions and leadership, and we wish both of them well in the next chapter of their careers.

We wish all those with leadership appointments the best of success in their new roles.
