New chair in municipal infrastructure will build better cities
Mayor Brian Bowman and Grant Doak, deputy minister of municipal relations, will be on the Fort Garry campus tomorrow to announce a new Municipal Infrastructure Chair. The inaugural chair holder will also be introduced.
The new Chair will improve the design and management of infrastructure in Manitoba’s cities, including developing new innovations to improve the durability of roads, monitor material and design performance and use the evidence to inform future projects, and enhance engineering training in the province.
The University of Manitoba Municipal Infrastructure Chair is a research program supported by the City of Winnipeg, the Province of Manitoba and 13 Construction Industry contractors, suppliers and associations.
