New academics bring diverse expertise to Faculty in 2023
Four new academic members joined the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences in 2023:
Gabriel Dallago
Gabriel Dallago joined the Department of Animal Science as Assistant Professor in Digital Livestock Production. Originally from Brazil, Gabriel became interested in data analysis and modeling in livestock systems after an internship in Canada, eventually completing his PhD at McGill University. He sees the many technologies in the industry as “pieces” of the livestock production “puzzle”, and by bringing them together hopes to understand the big picture.
Warren Blunt
Warren Blunt joined the Department of Biosystems Engineering as Assistant Professor in Sustainability Engineering. During his undergraduate studies, a summer stint as a student research assistant fueled his interest – and his passion – in bioproducts and their impact on our environment. Warren has returned to his alma mater to explore bioproducts based on carbon dioxide with the goal of a carbon-neutral future.
Henrique Da Ros Carvalho
Henrique Da Ros Carvalho joined the Department of Soil Science as Assistant Professor in Agricultural Meteorology on July 1, 2023. He grew up in Brazil before moving to the United States to pursue his graduate and post-doctoral studies with a focus on environmental biophysics. Henrique likes to explore how the physical environment impacts plants and animals, although he draws the line at snakes.
Mostaf Shartaj
Mostafa Shartaj joined the Department of Agribusiness and Agricultural Economics as Assistant Professor in Resource and Environmental Economics. Mostafa completed his bachelor and masters program in Bangladesh before coming to North America to complete his PhD at Colorado State University. He is excited to bring together his interests in economic research and analysis with his work in environment to explore agricultural and environmental policy development.
