Network Segmentation Project Phase Two Set to Begin in September
Network upgrade promises improved security, supportability, and increased speed
The second phase of the Network Segmentation Project is scheduled to begin on September 14, 2024. This phase involves migrating to a new Software-Defined Access (SDA) network, a collaborative effort with Cisco to enhance the UM’s networking infrastructure.
The upgrade promises improved security, supportability, and increased speed. To minimize disruption, the migration will be conducted one building at a time, outside of normal business hours.
Buildings scheduled for upgrade may experience temporary network unavailability during their respective migration periods. Staff, students and faculty are advised to plan their work schedules accordingly and may need to accept a new certificate when reconnecting to the Wi-Fi network post-migration. Detailed instructions are available in our user guide.
The IST networking team will be on-site to support IT staff during and immediately after each building’s migration. Building occupants will be contacted prior to your building’s migration.
