Manitoba Labour Board to address UMFA complaint
The University of Manitoba became aware of an unfair labour practice complaint by the University of Manitoba Faculty Association (UMFA) on Monday, November 7. The University intends to participate fully in the Manitoba Labour Board’s processes.
“The complaints will be addressed by the Manitoba Labour Board, and out of respect for the Board’s processes, the University will not be commenting further until after it has filed its defence,” said University of Manitoba General Counsel Naomi Andrew. “The University believes it has acted in good faith in its collective bargaining with UMFA.”
As part of the conciliation process, the University yesterday presented UMFA with an offer of settlement addressing all the issues UMFA has raised as causing the strike. The University will continue to focus on addressing these issues in order to bring the strike to an end.
