Mail services’ message on potential Canada Post labour disruption
A message from U of M’s mail services:
Although a special mediator will be working with Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) with hopes of a resolution, as of this morning, there has been a 72-hour notice of job action provided to Canada Post by CUPW on Thursday August 25, 2016 evening.
In the event of a full labour disruption, Canada Post will not operate.
Mail and parcels will not be delivered, and no new items will be accepted. Any mail and parcels within the postal system during a work disruption will be secured and delivered as quickly as possible once operations resume.
Should a labour disruption occur, the University of Manitoba’s mail services will suspend all Canada Post daily pickups and deliveries until a settlement can be reached.
We will continue to provide all interdepartmental mail services as well as MoneyGram fund transfer and Money-Orders.
