Grainews: VIDEO: Bringing new pod-shatter resistant canola to market

August 27, 2024 —

Pod-shatter tolerance in canola is a valuable trait to have if you want as much of your harvest as possible to reach the bin – it also can help with less volunteer canola plants alongside your next crop as well. At this year’s Carman Field Tour at the Ian N. Morrison Research Farm in Carman, Man. in July, Western Producer reporter Robert Arnason spoke with Lauren Gislason, a masters student at the University of Manitoba, about her research on the oilseed’s genome to speed up the breeding process to help bring new shatter-resistant canola cultivars to market.
