Globe and Mail: Men vulnerable to boredom, depression in retirement
November 26, 2015 —
The Globe and Mail writes about the mental health of men in retirement.
One growing trend in Canada is the “men’s sheds,” where men gather to do woodworking, bike repair and other hobbies, were targeted to men undergoing major life changes such as retirement, divorce or the loss of a spouse. A University of Manitoba study, published in the Ageing & Society journal, showed similar results in men who participated.
Research at the University of Manitoba is partially supported by funding from the Government of Canada Research Support Fund.
