Global News Winnipeg: Researchers led by U of M prof reach milestone studying Greenland ice
July 31, 2023 —
Dorthe Dahl-Jensen, UM Canada Excellence Research Chair in Arctic Ice, Freshwater-Marine Coupling and Climate Change and a prof at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark, speaks to Global News Winnipeg about leading an international team in successfully drilling through 2,670 metres of ice on the North Greenland Ice Stream, hitting bedrock. It’s a first for ice core researchers, and could be crucial to helping predict sea level rise in future.
Research at the University of Manitoba is partially supported by funding from the Government of Canada Research Support Fund.
