Three minutes to pitch your grand idea to change the world
The University of Manitoba joins renowned academic institutions around the world in hosting an international Falling Walls Lab in September 2022.
Falling Walls Lab is a world-class pitch competition and networking forum for students and early-career professionals. In a three-minute pitch, participants will have the opportunity to present their solution to a pressing problem facing our world today. Presentations are made to a high-calibre jury of experts, in front of a public audience. Think Dragon’s Den meets TED Talks – it’s sure to be a fast-paced exhibition of ground-breaking ideas.
Falling Walls Science Summit in 2019
The winner of the competition will represent Manitoba at the global Falling Walls finale in Berlin, Germany. The international three-day conference is inspired by the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. It promotes research and innovation in all disciplines, by posing the question, “Which walls will fall next?” With 100 aspiring scientists, researchers and innovators from over 50 countries, the event is a leading forum for scientific breakthrough and dialogue.
UM, along with partner North Forge, will be hosting a Falling Walls Lab on Sept 13, 2022 at the Smartpark Innovation Hub. This is the first time that Falling Walls has been held in Manitoba.

The application deadline is July 22, 2022. The Falling Walls Lab competition is open to university students and early-career professionals of all disciplines. Applications can be submitted on the Falling Walls website.
