Gather your virtual team for the Jack Frost Challenge

January 26, 2021 —

The Office of Sustainability is inviting the University of Manitoba (UM) community to get outside and enjoy the winter weather during the Jack Frost Challenge.

The Jack Frost Challenge is an annual week-long event coordinated by the Green Action Centre, celebrating winter activity across Manitoba. The challenge encourages virtual teams of one to five people to log 130 collective kilometres of outdoor winter activities between Feb. 7 and 13.

Register your team on the Green Action Centre website, then skate, walk, ski, snowshoe, bike, run or toboggan for a chance to win great prizes, including two grand prize staycation packages.

UM participants are encouraged to pre-fix team names with UM (for example, “UM-team name”) for a chance to be entered to win UM-specific prizes.

UM prizes will include:

  • UM Bookstore gift certificates
  • UM Sustainability items

Check out our Instagram, Facebook and Twitter (@SustainableUofM) and take our virtual winter walk, learn how to snowshoe, discover tips on cross-country skiing and more. You can also connect with UMCycle at @umcycle.
