Flag lowered to honour the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women
December 5, 2023 —
The flag on the Administration Building will be at half-mast on Dec. 6, 2023, to honour the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
Established in 1991 by the Government of Canada, this day marks the anniversary of the murders of 14 young women at l’École Polytechnique de Montréal in 1989. Dec. 6 is also an opportunity to reflect on gender-based violence in our community and to reaffirm our enduring commitment to pursue equity and end hatred in all its forms.
The University of Manitoba Engineering Society and the Price Faculty of Engineering host an annual public ceremony in memory of the victims. This year it takes place Dec. 6 from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. in the atrium of the Engineering building.
