Fim Screening: Letter from Masanjia

The University of Manitoba Falun Dafa Group is hosting a screening of the documentary “Letter from Masanjia”, directed by Peabody Award winner Leon Lee.

The film tells the story of what happened when a desperate SOS letter penned by a political prisoner turns up in Halloween decorations sold in Oregon, it sparks a nail-biting chain of events that exposes appalling human rights violations and leads to sweeping labor reform in China.

What: Film screening (75 minutes) and Q&A (45 minutes)
When: Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020, 3 p.m. & 7 p.m.
Q&A discussion with:

  • Dr. David Matas, International Human Right Lawyer, Order of Canada
  • Professor Maria Cheung, Faculty of Social Work, University of Manitoba
  • Caylan Ford, Writer, Co-producer (3 pm screening via Skype)
  • Leon Lee, Award-winning director (7 pm screening via Skype)
