Dr. Digvir Jayas (Biosystems Engineering), authored the article “A less glamorous – but more effective- approach to feeding the world” in the Manitoba Co-operator (November 28). Dr. Jayas shows that reducing grain storage loss would be more cost-effective than increasing production, and that this can be accomplished with current knowledge and further research. Dr. Zahra Moussavi, P.Eng., (Electrical Engineering) has been selected to be an IEEE EMB (Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society) Distinguished Lecturer for 2013-2014. Dr. Moussavi is the Director of the Biomedical Engineering Department at the University of Manitoba and will be sharing her expertise in biosignal processing and the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of Alzheimer disease.
