The Faculty of Kinesiology and Recreation Management’s Dean’s Teaching Excellence Award recognizes an individual whose teaching has contributed significantly to the lives of our students and to our faculty. These individuals have created a learning environment that focuses on excellence in teaching and student engagement. Distinguished teachers will excel in knowledge, organization, communication and evaluation.

NOMINATION PROCEDURES
• Eligibility: anyone who taught a course in FKRM between May 1, 2017 & April 30, 2018
• Complete and submit the nomination form below by the deadline (one nomination per person)
• You may include up to two letters of support for your nomination
Nomination Criteria
• Excellence in teaching
Knowledge
• Currency, breadth and depth of course materials
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of the subject
• Integration of research into the curriculum
• Continuous growth in the field of study
• Evidence of efforts made to improve one’s teaching (e.g., UTS programs)
Organization
• Ability to organize course materials
• Quality of materials and lessons
• Defined instruction and learning objectives
• Structure and coherency of presentations
• Use of technology where appropriate
Communication
• Ability to inspire in students independent and original/critical thinking
• Ability to encourage intellectual interests in students
• Clarity of presentation
• Enthusiasm and vitality in learning and teaching
• Displays outstanding commitment to Faculty and to the university, inside and outside the classroom
• Demonstrates the realization that teachers and students are partners in the learning environment
• Demonstrates a receptivity to students’ questions
• Displays a genuine interest in students’ professional development and well being
• Displays a positive attitude and enthusiasm for subject matter
Evaluation
• Utilizes fair, accurate and consistent evaluation methods
• Where appropriate, uses multiple approaches and types of assessment
