CTV National: Manitoba researchers, Indigenous group to develop lunar satellite

CTV National spoke to Phil Ferguson, Rocket scientist, and Canada Research Chair about UM’s STARLab team developing a CubeSat to orbit the moon, map its surface, and collect data, marking the first Canadian-made satellite to do so. UM is collaborating with Manitoba First Nations Educational Resource Centre to incorporate Indigenous knowledge into the lunar navigation system and engage Indigenous youth in the project. This mission aims to identify lunar resources for potential use as fuel or life support, contributing to future Martian colonization efforts.
