Cold campus cycling
Winter Bike to Work Day at U of M takes place on February 14. Celebrating winter cycling in Winnipeg and around the world, it rounds out the week of the Jack Frost Challenge organized by the Green Action Centre.
The Winter Cycling Congress also happens this week, with events around the city, including a panel on campus (see more below).
We ride to Fort Garry Campus with director of the office of sustainability, Ian Hall, who offers some winter cycling tips.
Winter Cycling panel
What does it take to create sustainable cold campus cycling? How do you envision the future of active transportation in cold climate universities and cities?
The panel discussion will include four diverse presentations from global winter cycling experts (1:00pm) followed by breakout sessions (2:30pm) that will consider winter cycling opportunities at the U of M and in the City of Winnipeg. Each of the free events will generate discussion and include an opportunity to share ideas, experiences, skills and knowledge.
Come hear from:
Timo Perälä (Finland)
Sarah Thiessen (Winnipeg)
Jack Cebe (Chicago)
Charles Strawser (University of Madison-Wisconsin)
