Cheer on Asper student athletes in seven Bison sports teams

A highlight of the 2022-2023 Asper Bison student athletes

October 5, 2022 —

With the huge Bison football homecoming game win against the Calgary Dinos on September 24 and a mix of soccer and hockey games already completed, we are already well into the Bison sport season.

This year, we are excited to cheer on 39 Asper student athletes across 7 sports as they balance their schedules in sport and in the classroom. These student-athletes require immense determination to navigate academia while representing the University of Manitoba on the field and track, in the swimming pool and beyond.

The Asper School of Business couldn’t be more excited to join the broader UM community to cheer for the Bisons. The following list highlights Bison student athletes to look for and cheer on this academic year.

Associates Fellow in finance explores race, gender and neurodivergence and financial outcomes

Asper associate professor and The Associates Fellow in Finance, Chi Liao is an expert in behavioural finance, engaging with datasets and psychology, sociology and other social sciences to tackle these questions. She seeks to understand how broader social phenomena affect individual behaviours in financial decision-making and ultimately financial outcomes.

The Associates of the Asper School of Business invite UM students to meet one of Manitoba’s most influential business leaders and one of UM’s most dedicated alumni. On May 30, 2024, Gerry Price [BSc/70, MSc/72, LLD/17], the 2024 International Distinguished Entrepreneur Award (IDEA) recipient, will share his impressive career journey, followed by a Q&A facilitated by the Asper School of Business Commerce Student’s Association President, Melani Fernando.

BComm Spotlight

Asper BComm student Gilbert Eretchabor is currently working hard to revitalize the University of Manitoba Supply Chain Organization (UMSCO) as president and is a passionate advocate for the field. Supply chain isn’t something that Eretchabor pursued from the start of his degree, but some cogent advice from the Dean helped him see his future (and his past) in supply chain.
