UM team receives $6.9 million to test pneumonia treatment and expand network of research sites

An international, UM-led clinical trial to assess the effects of a steroid drug on patients hospitalized with pneumonia has been awarded $6.9 million by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.

The Indigenous campus community at the University of Manitoba offers a wide variety of resources for Indigenous (First Nation, Métis, Inuit) students to connect and participate in programs that help achieve success and gain a sense of belonging on campus. Indigenous Orientation is a day for students to meet and engage with community and get familiar with the Indigenous programs, supports and cultural learning opportunities available at UM.

Over the last year, Adam Brandt, a master’s student in the College of Nursing, has received several awards for their research regarding the experiences of 2SLGBTQIA+ nurses, including the Rady Faculty Dean’s Prize and, most recently, a Research Manitoba training award.

The discovery of a tooth belonging to a shark species that has not yet been documented in Manitoba is the latest exciting discovery for the Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre (CDFD) in Morden. It is expected to be sent to University of Manitoba for further research.
