Bereavement Notice – Joshua Chornick
The Faculty of Engineering regrets to inform members of our community on the passing of one of our students.
Joshua Chornick, 18, passed away on Friday, June 28 while hiking a trail east of Winnipeg in the Whiteshell region. This tragic event comes as disbelief to our community as Joshua having just completed the Engineering Preliminary Year was to start into the Electrical Engineering program this fall, was an active member of both the University of Manitoba Engineering Society (UMES) and the UM Space Applications and Technology Society (UMSATS). He was also the director for frosh integration and lead for EngO.
Josh will be remembered as a kind gentleman who was an artist, athlete and dedicated member of our Engineering community. His caring nature and gentle demeanour was synonymous with his character and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
We extend our deepest condolences to Josh’s friends and family during this difficult time.
Joshua’s obituary and details on his funeral service can be viewed here. A memorial service for members of the Faculty & University community will be announced at a later date. The flag at the U of M will be lowered for Josh on July 15.
