Asper School maintains prestigious AACSB accreditation

April 24, 2015 —

AACSB logoThe Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba has maintained its business accreditation by AACSB International—The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Founded in 1916, AACSB International is the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, masters, and doctoral degrees in business and accounting.

AACSB Accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business education, and has been earned by less than five percent of the world’s business programs.

“It takes a great deal of commitment and determination to earn and maintain AACSB Accreditation,” said Robert D. Reid, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International. “Business schools must not only meet specific standards of excellence, but their deans, faculty, and professional staff must make a commitment to ongoing continuous improvement to ensure that the institution will continue to deliver the highest quality of education to students.”

“The Asper School of Business has always been committed to the continuous improvement of our business degree programs,” says Michael Benarroch, dean of the Asper School. “Over the past year, our community has created new opportunities and outstanding experiences for our students, including new MBA and MSc programs, experiential learning projects, and expanded course offerings. Our students are making a difference as leaders and organizers of award-winning events and fundraising initiatives. They’re gaining insight into the real world of business from mentorships with experienced business leaders and innovators. They’re graduating with a global perspective and hands-on experience thanks to our international exchange and co-operative education programs.”

“Over the next few months, our school will be implementing even more changes to our programs to further improve student outcomes and performance,” he adds. “Our extension of accreditation from AACSB is the result of much hard work by everyone in the school. I’d like to thank everyone in the Asper community for their contribution to this distinguished achievement.”
