Moose Jaw Today: Verticillium disease discovery, UM doctoral student : UM in the News

August 19, 2025 —  University of Manitoba doctoral student, Shruti Kashyap, is studying early-season moisture as it relates to verticillium disease severity. That led to the discovery that plants with thick suberin-rich roots had lower disease. Kashyap worked with her advisors, Claudio Stasolla and Harmeet Chawla, Plant Science professors in the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences.
