President Barnard’s message on National Volunteer Week
The following is a message from U of M President David Barnard:
As organizations and institutions across Canada celebrate National Volunteer Week, I would like to thank the thousands of students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors and friends who share their time and expertise across the university and into our broader community. This important work helps build community and creates an outstanding learning and working environment across our campuses.
As we move into the spring and summer months, I encourage everyone to seek out a volunteer opportunity that is meaningful to you. Here on our campuses, there are many opportunities to get involved, and make an impact, including our annual Pride Winnipeg float and festival booth, and the annual Campus Beautification Day.
Manitobans devote more than 80 million hours a year to volunteer activities, and that spirit of service is certainly alive on our campuses. Thank you all.
