U of M renews food services contract with Aramark
After an extensive best value RFP process, the University has selected Aramark Higher Education as its food service provider.
The contract is for ten years, effective April 1, 2014.
As part of the agreement, Aramark will invest millions of dollars into new food concepts and capital improvements, and introduce new initiatives in sustainability practice, healthy eating and easily accessible nutritional content. Many of the new programs, offerings and initiatives we will see in the coming months and years are a direct result of the feedback received from the campus-wide food services survey, conducted last fall.
Aramark will also continue to manage and operate the Conference & Catering Services Department, overseeing the conference and summer business, catering services and room rentals. Aramark has been the exclusive food services provider for the University of Manitoba for over twenty years.

The new directions that Aramark plans to explore sound promising, but as a U of Manitoba student, I am wondering who will hold Aramark accountable for exploring these options, and who will examine the outcomes with a critical eye.
