New book presents holiday memories in Manitoba
Manitoba at Christmas: Holiday memories in the Keystone Province, a collection of essays and memorates regarding the impact and meaning of Christmas to Manitobans through the years, will be officially launched this week.
Editor and contributor Wayne Chan [BSc/93, BA/00] is a research computer analyst with the Centre for Earth Observation Science (CEOS) at the University of Manitoba. He holds degrees in computer science and geography, and has an avid interest in local history. He is also an award-winning writer whose work has appeared in local and national publications.
The new book will be officially launched at the University of Manitoba Archives and Special Collections.
In attendance will be another contributor, Margaret Owen, will talk about how during the Christmas of 1941, her family waited to hear news about her father, who was a POW for several years after being captured during the defence of Hong Kong.
