The Social Brain: Fostering Connections to Understand the Neural Basis of Sociality

The departments of biological sciences and psychology at the University of Manitoba are hosting a two-day workshop on the social brain.

“The Social Brain: Fostering Connections to Understand the Neural Basis of Sociality” is sponsored by Research Manitoba and it runs on the Fort Garry campus from Nov. 13-14.

This two-day workshop will explore developments in our understanding of the neurobiological basis of social behaviour, and bring together Manitoba-based researchers with interests in neurobiology, physiological psychology, psychiatry, animal cognition, social psychology, computer science, and sociality, to explore knowledge gaps and to foster new collaborative research endeavours.

The workshop commences formally on the evening of Friday November 13th with a keynote public lecture.

What: Keynote Speaker: Dr. Alex Ophir, Department of Psychology, Cornell University, “Not all who wander are lost: The importance of socio-spatial memory in monogamy and alternative reproductive tactics”
