Fire on campus
Engineers are on scene assessing damages
November 6, 2015 —
Around 6 a.m. a fire started in the south side area of the University of Manitoba’s power house – this is the area where the cooling equipment is kept. Thanks to the efforts of WFPS the fire has been extinguished.
No one was injured in the fire and the cause of the blaze is under investigation.
At the time of the incident the boilers had been shut down, however two have since been restored. U of M engineers are on scene assessing damages and have noted that the heating system on campus could be affected.
Access to parking in the area will also be restricted to allow for the movement of emergency and service vehicles. The university community is asked to remain patient during the assessment and restoration of services.
