Lecture: Isaac Newton’s Alchemy
William R. Newman, Distinguished Professor and Ruth N. Halls Professor in the Department of History and Philosophy of Science at Indiana University will deliver this year’s 2015 Connor lectures hosted by the Faculty of Science, Faculty of Arts, St. John’s College and the University of Manitoba Student’s Union, (UMSU).
Through historical documents and experiments that demonstrate alchemical processes, these lectures will explain why one of the most insightful scientists in history was convinced that alchemical transformations were scientifically plausible.
On October 22, Professor Williams will deliver a free public lecture, “New Light on Isaac Newton’s Alchemy” and on October 23 he will deliver a specialized lecture, “Unsolved Mysteries of Isaac Newton’s Alchemical Practice”
